From Pumps to P-recovery: welcome to day 4 at Aquatech Amsterdam 2019!
Wonder around the halls of Aquatech and you’ll see the strangest, most innovative, big and powerful or small and high-tech solutions. High on the agenda of many of our visitors is the Desalination Pavilion (Hall 1, stand 01.50). A sure sign that desalination is a growing market all over the world. The capital expenditure on seawater is expected to increase by 42% in 2020, according to the forecast of Global Water Intelligence. Learn from the experts at the pavilion, powered by the European Desalination Society.
Under water and up in the air
From very small submarines to highflying drones; Aquatech showcases the latest technologies. The use of drones is becoming more common in the watersector. For groundwater monitoring for example, or monitoring pipes and sewage systems. Find out how you can use drones in your business at hall 10, stand 10.114. Live demonstrations at 11:30 and 14:30 hrs.
Pumps and process plaza
This is where the real men and women go! Pumps and Process plaza is the centre of Hall 12, which is about power, maximum capacity, big machinery and high-tech systems. Some of the most impressive exhibits are located here. Meet the top producers and learn all about research, development and application of pumps and pump systems. Or just marvel at the technology on show. Hall 12, Pumps and Process Plaza: booth 12.505.
Spotlight on recovery: ‘Phosphorus, cellulose, Kaumera Nereda Gum, bioplastics, biomass and water itself most promising resources’
This Giraffe, made out of old flip-flops, stands out at the Future Water Square
Wastewater is a goldmine of precious raw materials. This is an important trend for the future and a fast growing market worldwide.
When you see the Giraffe made out of old flip-flops, you have found the recovery hub at Future Water Square. This is the home of the Energy and Resources factory and Aquaminerals bv. The Energy and Resources factory is the Dutch Water Authorities’ network organization which stimulates the treatment from wastewater treatment to resource and energy recovery. Aquaminerals BV develops high value applications for the residuals generated by its’ participants, namely, the drinking water companies and several water authorities. Together with the cosmetics brand Naif, Waternet and the Calcite factory, they succeeded in producing a scrub from calcite that is extracted from drinking water.
High on the European agenda
Phosphorus, cellulose, the Kaumera Nereda® Gum, bioplastics, and water itself are considered the most promising resources by the Water Authorities. The Kaumera Nereda® Gum, overall winner of the Aquatech Innovation Award, is one of the potential valuable products to originate from the wastewater treatment process.
Find out more about the product at the European Innovation Pavilion just behind the recovery booth at Future Water Square. Or go to the Innovation Lab in Hall 1, where all the Aquatech Innovation Award winners are featured. This is also the place where the Innovation Avenue starts. Follow the orange carpet of the avenue all the way to hall eleven and you’ll see more new technologies for recovery.
From pee to tea
The new outside demo-lane at Aquatech (at entrance K) features several exhibitors with innovative recovery solutions. Visit the ‘bathroom-container’ of Waternet, the water company for Amsterdam and surrounding area. Waternet demonstrates how they are closing the water cycle; from toilet and shower to phosphate, bio-gas, re-use etc. Nextdoor, Semilla Sanitation demonstrates how pee can be turned into tea. Semilla modules form a closed wastewater treatment unit, using advanced space technology to convert sanitary wastewater into clean water and fertilizers for food production. Conclude your visit with a beer made from rainwater at the Rain-Bar.
To burn or not to burn: phosphate recovery
Today’s Aquastage seminar features a seminar on incineration and P recovery in a stressed sludge market. Speakers are Arjan Budding, Wageningen University and research and Bastian Pilz from
Ilse Utilities.
11.00 – 11.45 Aquastage, Hall 12, booth 12.230.
The Kaumera Nereda® Gum is the overall winner of the Aquatech Innovation Awards
Ignaz Worm winner AquaRun
Congratulations to Ignaz Worm (Envaqua) for winning the AquaRun! The run has become a tradition for the early birds among exhibitors, visitors and locals. It’s fun and for a good cause: the proceeds go to Aqua for All. This NGO aims to give all people access to basic sanitation.
